Dr. Shabir Bharadia received his B.S in chemistry and biology at Eureka College, Illinois, in 1985 graduating with honors. He went to Indiana University, School of Optometry for his post-graduate studies.
At Indiana, he was a teaching assistant for Pathology, president of the National Optometric Association (NOSA), a member of American Optometric Students Association (AOSA), and a member of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). Upon graduation, He accompanied a group of VOSH members to the Honduras which had a profound affect on him for the need of humanitarian aid for the less fortunate .
He married in 1992 to Charlene and they have one son, Imran. They moved to Columbia in 1995 and have become involved in numerous activities. They enjoy fishing, camping, swimming, and biking. They also enjoy the South Carolina State Museum and the Riverbanks Zoo.
